It still exists, the theater-miracles - breathless tension a'la Hitchcock, highest emotional sentiment, musical and scenic persuasion! And this everything in the North German "province!" With the standard-placing premiere of Wagner "Tristan und Isolde", the theater in Lübeck gives the proof that a trip is worthwhile for an opera-visit through the republic crosswise. Of what does this "miracle" consist? It has several reasons, among them two protruding ones: Marion Amman as Isolde, that managed all cliffs of the part with apparent easiness. Beside her was Veronika Waldners Brangäne in singing and in performancing equivalent. ..... Brangäne, shattering between duty-fulfillment and rebelling, makes the first act to the event - when one ever would have experienced it so exciting
