Me and one of my Longbows

I'm a dedicated bowyer, concentrating on styles usually older then 2000 years. Following the footprints of our ancestors, you'll learn a vanished facette of bowsports.
Stoneagebows, remaining unchanged in form and function for millenia, are until today the most exciting part sports can offer.
Just like the every tree is unique, every wooden bow has a character of it's own, cut to fit the owners needs and taste. Plain, uncomplicated, perfect in form and absolutely usable. No chit-chat, no plastic and no screws that can unwind, only natural materials are used in traditional bowyery.
The warm material wood, brought to a perfect half-circle, brings back a long forgotten dream from our childhood. The mystical bow, becomes a link to our very own past. Old craftsmenship and knowledge awake from the dust of millenia to a new life.

Prehistoric and - stoneage bows especially - demand a higher share of patience and knowledge from the bowyer as well as from the archerer. Nevertheless they can reach a level of efficiency equal to that of a physically comparable modern plasticbow. The traditional bow's beauty is the coincidence of natural materials and perfection of craftsmenship. Those who know, can tell a finely finished bow carved with flinttools from an assebly-line bow, made to look like a stoneage bow.

Even if bowhunting is prohibited in most of those countries, that regard themselves to be civilized, one may not forget, that the bow was the weapon, that brought for more then 10'000 years meat to the tables of european families. The bow enabled the the rise of hun, mongolian and not to forget the english imperia.

In Germany, there are today several rifle clubs, harbouring wood-bow-sections and bowmatches for traditional archers. Needless to say that sighting mechanisms are strictly forbidden. Hardcore-archerers may resort to the "Stoneage bow" class. In this class, the bow has to be fashioned in a way, that can be done with stoneage tools. The same is true for the arrows and bowstrings. The use of metals or plastics, as arrowheads or material for the string is illicit.
