Komet Ikeya-Zhang
Comet Ikeya-Zhang at the evening on April 6, 2002, 21:18 CEST, taken in Dreieich-Dreieichenhain, Germany, with a Canon EOS500N camera and Canon 75-300mm tele zoom lens at 300mm, f5.6, 15 seconds exposed on Fuji800 negative film. At the lower right corner the Andromeda galaxy (M31) can be seen.

The observation of the comet Ikeya-Zhang was disturbed by strong light dispersion, although its magnitude was about 3 mag high. In the north western directions, where the comet could be watched, from the viewing site Dreieich-Dreieichenhain there is strong light dispersion, caused by the city of Frankfurt and the near airport. In difference to the observation of the comet Hale-Bopp in 1997 watching Ikeya-Zhang in 2002 with the naked eye showed just a tiny milky spot. On the pictures parts of the comet's tail can be seen.
